Even as guards and concerned citizens descend upon the site of last night's disaster word reaches them of another calamity. A bridge collapsed as a Hippo Pride Parade crossed the River Ankh. No one was killed but many were injured or traumatized by their submersion in the fetid River Ankh, and no one was able to recapture the actual Hippo used as parade mascot, who appears to be wandering the streets looking for a place more suitable and less fetid then the Ankh River to spend time.

"Someone replaced the supports very carefully Commander." A guard report to Commander Vimes.

"Who could do that?" Vimes asks.

"Well, that's hard to say Commander." The guard, a dwarf, responds.
