Let's say worst case scenario, he's a jester, we lose, better to get it over with because any game that has a jester is almost guaranteed to result in the jester winning.

That's option 1, he's a jester, I say kill him and be done with, such being the case, I don't want the option lingering all game. I consider it a poor role anyway.


You're right, it's a pretty stupid role, and I can't see Kronin including it.

Option 2, he's a DF who think by saying he's a DF will make him less suspicious, not a bad strategy, but more importantly, not a bad strategy in the mind of a newer player, people have often employed poor tactics because they sounded better on the drawing board then the game MB. Killing him is advantageous.

Option 3, he's third party, a lone wolf or part of a whole coalition, killing him is advantageous.


Options two and three seem more improbable to me because it's such a risky strategy for a non-townie to employ. All he's done is drawn a ton of attention to himself which is what most mafia generally try to avoid. But I suppose that makes it a WIFOM thing, or an attempt at one or whatever.

Option 4, he's a townie who employed a bizarre tactic that doesn't just border on anti-town but jumps well into anti-town, losing him isn't too costly.

Consider the four options, versus the roughly 1 in 4 chance of randomly getting a DF on day 1, makes a pretty clear choice available.

Mostly, I don't like this tactic, and I don't want people pursuing it in the future, we've seen over and over again that lying as a townie tends to have anti-town results, I don't want to encourage it or endorse it. Forgiving players who try it and pull off a success is one thing, this is another, IMHO. At the very least, it's a serious distraction. I can not see any way it could hurt the DFs if he's a townie.


This is the most persuasive argument in my opinion. I generally think anyone caught lying should probably lynched ASAP, but I'll admit, I didn't think of Hopper's statement as a lie initially because it is such an outlandish and baffling claim. But I suppose you're right, and we're not going to really lose much whatever his alignment is. He's got my vote already. Let's see where this goes.
