This is General Info from the Moderator, subsequent threads may be posted under this heading. As before, the update counter at the top says which one I'm on, so you should keep an open eye for changes to that and look in on this message when it changes.
Update 14: 18 Apr - Couple quick notes on activity and votes updates. First, if you don't see it updated very recently, one of two things have happened. Either I forgot to update the date under 'last updated' or I haven't actually updated yet. When a lynch isn't obviously in the offing I don't check the game much, I doubt there's many days I don't check the thread at least once, but the VNTL only comes into play when a lynch is ramping up so I don't always take the time on a given day to update it, since I like to send out NBs to the inactives when I do. That 'last updated' number means a rigorous check was done recently, though often when people get the NB they'll respond to the board and if I see that I'll take them off the update, but that doesn't mean I've rechecked everyone so someone might have slid over 72 hours. Obviously when lynch tallies are fairly close to the VNTL I check more often, though of course sometimes I am busy and really only have time to peak in to make sure nothing incredibly momentous has happened. I will always update it before officially announcing a lynch though, which is why you may see 'lynch pending' go up on the board, I'm checking to make sure no one unvoted or spoke up in the meantime who was inactive. The big thing to remember, inactivity-wise is that you need to be posting some new message in the thread at least every 72 hours or have a RBIRL thread title. Even if you really have nothing to say you need to make a point of saying something so people know you are still around answering questions, I'm not expecting at this stage to lose any players to modkill and we'll have a decent pool of subs as the game progresses anyway, but lynches of less active players are common enough, and lesser activity is often the deciding factor between which of probable candidates gets someone's vote, so it's worth keeping in mind, as an added benefit of active posting... it is also worth remembering that players who are only posting 'Hi I'm here' comments tend to be more likely to be lynched too, so substantive posting is advised. It doesn't actually have to be incredibly long, as I myself tend to favor, but one-sentence posts don't typically advance a faction's cause very much nor convince other players of your heavy involvement, ironically lurking - which is nominally done as a form of self-defense - tends to result in lynch and NK more often then average posting, in my not-very-limited experience.
Update 13: 13 Apr - A little note on these events, they are effectively pre-randomized and set to go off if certain things happen, I'll probably post the ones that are typed and not hand-written at the end of the game, but to give you some idea how this works, this event had the criteria, or 'trigger' of: "Election for day 2 complete, previous chair voted for day 1 lynch, chair and advocate titles in play." and it selected people off "Obtain two non-identical random numbers from players, using an alpha roster, go the first random number [3] down from the newly elected advocate [beetnemsis to Fanatic-Templar], and the second number [13] up from the first selectee [Fanatic-Templar to Fox and Ravens]". I won't give the exacts here on what then occurred, except that the event called for the release of gender info from the newly elected positions as well as from the selectees, and various other pre-selected info to be released. The randomness, essentially using the numbers given by players as a seed, shifts and changes a lot from event to event, for instance 1-20 for yesterday was a table compiled from using a d20 die, with some repeats with minor variation on the list. Another not used called for two random numbers to go off the fifth person to post a direct reply to the original thread of that day, skipping repeats, using an Alpha Roster, whereas another used upside-down registration order for the list and dead players would be left on. I raise this because as I've mentioned, I pretty much refuse to have any involvement in the game, such as myself randomly determining outcomes, once a player roster for the game has been generated, so I use players instead, with pre-selected determination from their number/response (some call for letters or a choice of rock-paper-scissors) to determine what happens, but I list the method in this case to curb anyone's desire to try to guess what target will be from their number selected. The point is not to allow anyone, myself included, to be able to deliberately or subconsciously pick the outcome of a random event, and I think that as the criteria for this specific event indicate, there was no way for anyone to knowingly influence it.
Update 12: 9 Apr - As per BlackAdder's suggestion, the Inactivity Roster, which serves the dual purposes of tracking dead players, now includes annotations next to players who have either replaced or been replaced by another, indicating who they replaced or were replaced by. The strikethrough onPlayer Name indicates the player was in the game at some point holding a role, and is not currently in the game.
Update 11: 9 Apr - Probably best to clarify the sub rules again, to avoid confusion. Gameplay is damaged by modkills, which represent an unfair disadvantage to whatever group they belonged to, hence substitution is preferable. To sub someone in requires only one core thing, that the substitute holds no knowledge from a previous role that will give them any advantage, so a player who was not previously in the game, or a player who on their death no longer has unique knowledge that represents an advantage of any sort, is suitable. Blaine was not usuable to replace Napoleon as he had knowledge of ally names or an ally's name. Hobo also can not be used, since using him would either leave him knowing the name of a previous allies, if any remain, or if none did, prove to players that none did. A cop who has received a result can not substitute, a doc who has used their power and gotten a result could not, a serial killer could if their knowledge of who they killed did not advantage anyone, a darkfriend could not, a vanilla could, etc. The role they take over is irrelevant, and could be darkfriend, vanilla, cult leader, etc, because they take over the role with no knowledge from their previous role to benefit them. As most cases where substitution is necessary occur early in the game, by and large many who later be disqualified for special knowledge are initially safe to be used, should they be lynched or NK'd.
Update 10: 9 Apr - Have moved all the various links, logs, votes records and so on over to new thread, people can begin posting into the game any time they want now. Incidentally, although this may not always be the case, everyone got a 'dawn 2 message - name', and while I thoroughly check these many times before sending, on the off chance you ever get a message with someone else's name on it, don't open it and inform me. I can tell when someone opens a NB from me so if you've got the wrong info and leave it unopened, we can continue play with no harm no foul and I'll just peak to make sure it's unopened every so often until the game ends. This hasn't happened by the way, just general paranoia, but you can probably expect any message from me in the future to that isn't a direct reply to something you sent to have your name on it.
Update 9: 9 Apr - Okay, Fanatic-Templar has accepted sub for Napoleon, so he will be assuming that role, as mentioned, he doesn't IMO have any info from his previous role that could effect things but to avoid any mistakes or for that matter tactics implying he might have info, our subbing rule - which should be moot from this point on in the game I hope - includes a loose ban on discussing your previous role or asking people about their previous role if they've been subbed posthumously.
