I actually addressed that in my post. In the first place, there is nothing socialist about charity. Bertrand Russell himself made that distinction between Christianity and socialism. Secondly, the more cynical suggest it was simple common sense tactics for guerilla warfare - maintain the good will of the people you hope will not betray you to the authorities. Thirdly, the "Rob from the Rich and Give to the Poor" aspect was completely ommitted. The only scene close to that is where they steal grain they regard as their own, and plant it. That was portrayed as both a desperation measure by people whose community was completely bankrupt and done at the behest of the local aristocracy. Throughout the movie, Robin is on the side of the aristocrats anyway.

Considering that your so-called "socialist" aspect of the Robin Hood legend is one of the more important, certainly moreso than the lesser known Merry Men, like Allan & Will, the ommission of that bit, while retaining those two characters and some fairly tortuous plot twists to get in the names "Hood" and "Merry" men, suggests it was deliberate on the part of the filmmakers, whatever their true intentions.
