Liam Neeson was perhaps the best, or at least one of the best, performances in ANY of the SW movies (not to mention being the best and coolest of the Jedi in any of the 6 movies). McGregor was pretty good too, he just had some really crappy lines to deliver for a director who didn't seem to give a shit if the actors acted or just spoke lines. Like Portman, all she did in the prequels was deliver lines. Not a moment of acting in the whole thing (at least not acting at a level above an elementary school play).

There's a reason people who didn't see the first three until after the new ones came out don't understand the prequel hate; it's called "not having nostalgia."

The original trilogy is nothing extraordinary except perhaps in terms of the originality of the special effects. But the acting was decent. The new trilogy's dubious acting plus the fact that the special effects, while much fancier, are not so particularly stand-out anymore, plus Jar-Jar Binks, makes it fair to say it's inferior to the original. Plus, you know, the inherent problem of knowing beforehand what the main plot twists are going to be.


Liam Neeson was lovely. And there isn't really anything wrong with Ewan McGregor. He was just given very bad lines.
