Huh, I'd do the opposite: see a show in that language with subtitles in a language I know.

Rather easier to watch some English-spoken DVD that I want to watch anyway and use the Arabic (or other) subtitles. The opposite would admittedly be a better exercise, but much harder to get hold of, and there aren't as many movies/shows in Arabic that I want to see.

I don't pay enough attention to subtitles to make that a good option for me, I think. Although I haven't tried it. Perhaps if I used a film I knew very well. Hmm. A plan forms.

Books are one of my primary ways of learning a language, but I find I learn much easier from hearing it spoken. Hence my choice of sound vs subs.
