I haven't read the books. I saw the first film back when it came out, and found that to be in the same category as this one; "meh".

What I liked the best was the dragon, and what I disliked the most was the terribly predictable ending.
I also didn't think the translators have done a good job (original sound, but norwegian text).
Some of the special effects were nice, but they could have done a better job with the make up. The fake blood looked exactly like that - fake.


All in all: an average film, ok to waste some hours if you have nothing better to do. If you do have something better to do, do that instead.
