Are they actually going back 85 million years in Earth history? Does anyone know if they consider any time travel ramifications for that? For example, if you pump up some petroleum 85 million years ago, then that petroleum isn't available for your ancestors in the future. Deforesting areas, sowing grasses and crops that hadn't developed naturally yet, all that stuff would really mess up the future. Maybe they don't care about messing up the future, causing paradoxes, or creating splintered time streams. Their actions could feasibly prevent the formation of the human race altogether.

That was my first thought when I heard about the premise. I am wondering how they'll explain that, Butterfly effect and all...

I'd guess if they did that with no intent of ever returning to the "future", they either just don't give a damn, or they are intending a kind of historical tabula rasa anyway.

The premise could be really interesting explored in a sci-fi novel (where it could be more a philosophico-sociologic exploration or commentary on what's wrong, and if even a tabula rasa would manage for these aspects of humanity to change and how, and so on) but that sounds more like an idea to explore on a vast timeline, or at different stages of development of the new society, and a TV series is not so likely to more than scratch the surface of those ideas and be a lot more preoccupied by plot/adventures (and end up, like virtually all TV shows in the genre, to be more a drama in a sci-fi setting than "real" sci-fi).
