Dr. Connors descent into madness was akin to Arthos 'descent' into madness in War Craft III. That is, there's no descent. He just plummets into insanity.

Yeah, that happened rather suddenly, even though probably explained by the loss of his job, perspective and access to the program and therefore the decision to inject the stuff, which made him crazy.

I still found the character worked a) because of the scenes in front of the mirror and the glass door, where you could see the desire to be a whole man again and b) because he saved Spidey in the end.
