The voiceover really is annoying, no doubt about that, and most of the crap he says is inane filler anyways, so you really aren't missing a whole lot. Some people feel like without it the movie is hard to understand in parts....I can't really say, because I originally saw it w/the voiceover, so seeing it without isn't confusing.

Did that make any sense?? I feel like I was talking gibberish there.


Apparently the voice-over was added after the movie ran over budget and one of the funding companies acquired creative control - they felt it was too hard to understand otherwise, and needed to explain to the viewers what was going on. So I imagine my comments elsewhere about how this movie is remarkable for its refusal to take the viewer by the hand are much less relevant for the original theatrical cut, and the theatrical cut was likely more accessible and hence commercially viable.
