Actually, I'm pretty sure the "First age" refers to the current era in real life based on the stories that have been supposedly passed down from the First Age (Mosk and Merk, Queen Elsbet, Anla the Wise Counselor)

Because according to RJ, our "myths" like King Arthur or the stories from the bible are basically the plot of the story in the books.
