It makes a bit of sense. There are all kinds of mystical magical things going on around them. I can see a prophecy originating that says once the Giant Hand melts the entire hill, the world is going to really go downhill. Add that to how feared the Choeden Kal were, and general corruption over time, plus an all-but-proven belief in reincarnation, and the mass suicide I suppose makes sense.



It's fanatical, but given how the WoT world works, it makes sense. Stupid? Yes. Stupidest thing ever? No.
