Imagine being caught in a burning structure. The Aes Sedai weaves a bubble of Air around herself to protect her. She will not burn or suffocate for now, but she has not extinguished the flames, and she will eventually run out of air. This is what the Age of Legends Aes Sedai did. What Nynaeve did was put out the fire.
And you know this how? Based on your analogy, the AoL AS temporarily warded their patients brain from a madness they couldn't cure. So, something like the white radiance protecting Rand's brain, but temporary? If that were so, Nynave should have been able to replicate that radiance or something like it. Yet while the seemingly impossible task of Healing is achieved by her, she is baffled by the radiance. Doesn't add up to me.
Ishamael's words imply the impossibility of actually healing the madness, but the possibility to give Lews Therin a few moments of clear thought despite this.
No. He says LTT can be given a few moments of sanity. How that can be achieved isn't discussed at all.
What Nynaeve did was heal the madness. Therefore, I disagree with Sidious' assertion that what Nynaeve did was done before, as demonstrated in Dragonmount.
You have as little prof for hut theory as he does, but his has the advantage if being simpler.

Nynaeve's healing seems more permanent, though.
