Don't get me wrong, rape is still rape, but you'd think the embodiment of evil would have better forms of punishment than having sex with his minions when they screw up. Screwing the screw-ups (hehe, I'm so clever).

I mean honestly, look at how hard Lanfear tried to get into Lews Therin's pants, because he was the strongest channeler alive. She'd probably have an orgasm just thinking about doing Shai'tan.


IMO, it's not all that different from the breaking of Semirhage (in nature, not scale). The very nature of the act is targeted directly at asserting Shaidar Haran's superiority and the victim's inferiority in a very strong way. It crushed Mesaana and Graendal to be reduced in such a manner.

The Dark One seems to be pretty clear that he will use whatever works. And, like Graendal, if it doesn't work, it's worthless. Interestingly, this puts his mental state very, very close to where Rand was before Veins of Gold.
