I believe I HAVE lobbied for a :retches: smiley in the past, but accepted that compromise.

No one wants to read an 800 page novel about your last bridge club meeting. On the other hand, plenty of people played bridge throughout WWII, and the absence of movies about them didn't mean the war didn't affect them. Characters like Olver prevent a Randland where everyone's a hundred foot tall hero/villain shooting flames from his eyes, which would be as uncredible as it is unappealing.
