I'm not sure what the implications are for spirituality in Jordan's world (whether the soul is joined to the body following birth at some indeterminate point), but she wouldn't have qualified the statement "a baby" if there weren't some way he ended up being older.

Up until his stupid maudlin backstory in this book, we had every reason to believe that Olver could be Gaidal Cain. Jordan made up enough other weird rules for his world that it was absolutely possible, especially given all the false hints made in that direction.
Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.
