It seems an odd oversight, yes; I can't even recall her being Delved when the truth was revealed. Joel Send a noteboard - 29/12/2010 12:40:00 PM
Unless she backs down and endures a very public and grating humiliation (or is revealed to be suffering lingering manipulation by Aran'gar), my only question is whether she'll be turned by a circle before she's forever broken.

I'm still incredibly shocked that this has never been followed up on. The fact that 1000 AS can't put 2 and 2 together and see that a FORSAKEN was nursing their Amyrlin and may have planted threads screams wrongness. And since Aran'gar is now dead, we will probably never know for sure just what Compulsion was used.

I have little doubt that there was Compulsion though, probably designed to incite mild paranoia and increase stubbornness. The irony is that the latter has served her well in her role (though not the former) up until confronting Rand.

I wonder if Nynaeve will actually end up being able to heal it the same way she did with Naeff. It's a little corny to have a super-healer character, but Nynaeve's scenes of late are written so well that I can't help but enjoy it anyway. As I said elsewhere, she distincts herself from Egwene not in her power, or her stubbornness, or willpower. Her strength, the one which Egwene most lacks, is actual empathy for others.

Yes, that certainly seems so; Egwene has gotten very good at absently and briefly noting the suffering incidental to her plans. Perhaps Nynaeve needs to take her up to Dragonmount for an epiphany, since Egwene seems to think she's the Dragon Reborn now. :P It was, after all, the thing Rand lacked that would've destroyed the world even in victory, the thing he cautions Nynaeve not to let the Tower "ruin" in her.

To be entirely honest I was leaving myself an out as much as Egwene; I don't think there's any hope for her on her current course, but also don't rule out the possibility she voluntarily descends from her arrogant precipice rather than falling meteorically. One way that could be accomplished narratively and credibly would be if her behavior is the result of Aran'gars Compulsion. It's even possible Aran'gar has her programmed to attack Rand and that's the other occasion on which Perrin must be present to save his life. Nynaeve knows what to look for, thanks to Rand, so she could spot it in a moment if she ever has the chance to look, and since Egwene apparently feels it's past time Nynaeve stopped wasting precious time assisting that irrelevant Dragon when she SHOULD be in the Tower preparing for the Amyrlin to defeat the DO she may get that chance.
