Then again, Moiraine and Siuan are younger, and as strong as she was, but both of them learned to compromise despite one spending one most of her career in the Tower and the other spending hers out in the world.

It really seems to me that there is a hardness to Elaida's character that existed before she enter training. We don't know much of her early life, but she seems driven, egotistical and ruthless.

This might legitimately be a character flaw that Elaida could excise only after much soul-searching. Perhaps if the damane are freed in her lifetime, she would have learned humility to smooth her hard edges.

Wait, what? Siuan learned to compromise?? when did that happen? her reputation within the Tower during her time as the Amyrlin Seat was that she trampled her opposition at slightest provocation. Her draconic "leadership" style was part of the reason why the rank and file Sitters agreed to depose her.

Didn't Elaida come from a Murandian noble house? This might partially explain her superiority complex.

Even before she became a caricature, she didn't exactly look all that capable - 10/04/2011 08:24:48 PM 996 Views

Those traits prevent her from being a good leader. Maybe she'd become a good Sister in time. - 11/04/2011 06:11:06 PM 876 Views
