A courtship where one side doesn't realize they are courting....
Ava Send a noteboard - 29/04/2011 07:09:36 PM
...isn't really a courtship. Rand had no idea that Avi had a thing for him, and she actively lied to him about it and tried to hide it as long as she could. When she finally admitted it, after leading him a merry chase through a gateway and a blizzard, they had sex one time and then went back to being little more than acquaintances for half a year until the super-bonding.
Similar deal with Min. Rand had no idea that Min had a thing for him, and thought that her uncharacteristic behavior was a punishment for him calling her manly. It's not really a courtship if half the team has no clue that they're being courted. Rand was completely clueless and naive, and didn't get the message until Min got out the steamroller and bulldozed it home. They didn't get married afterwards, but from then on they acted like a married couple. It was a nonexistent courtship followed by an abrupt union, like many of the others in the series.

What is to discuss here? You hate Egwene and will spin anything to put her in a negative light

I'd say there's no need to take it so seriously when there's so few posts lately. You should see

I agree there are plenty of underdeveloped and somewhat one-sided relationships in the series

Which was why I thought it was appropriate, since he meant to act as Egwene's Warder.

The only issue is that Warders are not minions - they are honored junior partners.

No, the junior partners are Accepted. Warders are essentially personal bodyguards and/or assistants.

Accepted are not anything, let alone junior partners. Don't think N&E's experience was typical

Yes. An often overlooked point is that ELAYNE, not Egwene, gains the most power in ToM

I can only quibble; Egwene became so insufferable in ToM I'm convinced her fate will be unpleasant.
