The reports you excoriate her for (very reluctantly) half-believing came after she noticed him talking to himself aloud, have shocking mood swings (which make no sense if you're not reading his PoV) and develop a temper that she had never seen any signs of before. She understood the changes in him about as well as he understood her desire to be Aes Sedai, which is to say, not at all. But I don't think either can be faulted for not being able to read minds.
