But we'll see what the future holds soon, I suspect.
On the audiovisual front? That deal fell through again, and the rights should revert to Harriet shortly (by the end of 2012, IRRC).
I'm one of those who believe WOT has close to zero potential for an adaptation (even as an anime series, it would be too massive for the Japanese producers to handle.. we're looking at at least 10 series of 20 episodes... won't happen). To adapt it, you'd have to seriously trim it down, to the point all that would remain is the "epic" backbone of the series, tortured to fit the medium and its constraints beside, and that epic backbone has not much to offer that isn't generic. It's a bit like expecting someone is going to commit to a full adaptation of Malazan for TV or cinema...
In the end, WOT is a Fantasy soap relying massively on the tropes of the genre (multiplied quid pro quos, mysteries, character moments, side plots etc. set on a more epic background/central core), and I don't think any network is going to put on the air a Fantasy soap any time soon.
Oh good God, if a telenovela WoT adaptation were made, can you imagine the screeching from certain quarters?

Good thing any adaptation isn't likely to happen, no?

So when the book/series ends, what will it have all meant?
