The final post in the brief discussion there says it all. Nate Send a noteboard - 17/01/2014 09:59:17 PM

"The fact that it only took four posts for you to derail this into a Dr. Who discussion means even you know how ridiculous this idea is."

Not to mention the fact that the original poster implies that Harriet, who edited and approved all three books, doesn't care about truth, respect, decency, or her husband's memory or legacy. Which, uh. Well.

As far as Sanderson killing the series goes ... isn't that the point? He was brought in to finish it. Did you want him to keep it going somehow? Did you expect him to introduce new mysteries and plot points rather than finish old ones off? He had portions of the story already written by Jordan, and he had detailed notes for the rest. Sanderson was essentially painting by numbers to fill in the plot points and get to the end. While the execution is on him, most of the plot was Jordan's.

Discussion on the series, at least here and at wotmania before it, began to trickle off shortly after Crossroads of Twilight was released. While I agree that a fair portion of the last three books wasn't very good, neither was a fair portion of the five books before that as well. In fact, despite the general fan love for Lord of Chaos, in my opinion the series began its long decline with The Fires of Heaven.

If a person wants to pretend the last three never happened, that's their prerogative. I personally like to pretend the ninth season of The X-Files was cancelled before a single line of script could be filmed. But demanding something be removed from "official cannon" strikes me as childish.

And last but not least, I've just written more about it than all the responders on Dragonmount combined, so ...
