View original postIn WoT world they don't have this and most nationalities seemed to be fairly racially non-diverse. It's rare to find a cairheinin that isn't short with dark hair or a Saldaean who doesn't have a bold nose etc ... Sure there is a bit of diversity, but it tends to follow national lines.

I could easily see this being a cause for racism. After all, if you get used to the idea that everyone around you looks the same, anything that breaks that mental model could more easily be seen as a threat. After all, if they looks so different, who knows what strange habits they might have? Take the Tinkers for example, the lifestyle and clothing style set them apart, and then that takes even villainous undertones (thievery, stealing children).

Much like the Gypsies of the Middle Ages the were considered unsavory ... But again in similar fashion the Tinkers were also the only major group that didn't have a nationality that was specific and they tended to have mixed nationality due to the constant moving around. I think the Tinkers were shown some degree of racism by nearly everyone, but more because the cultural differences than perceived race issues.
