I love the idea of channeling, but I also have a feeling that channeling is not the answer, nor is the amount of Power. I think the key may lie in Rand's taveren effecting pulling on other threads in the Pattern.
I agree - Dumai Wells is not one of my favorite scenes in the series, and while I understand the idea of battlefields and using the Power to kill, the Ashaman and the Black Tower are a flawed creation. And I didn't like the whole "kneel or be knelt" line.
By the way, I never liked manslaughter at Dumani Wells, but I know that for many fans it was a cool event.
