That the explanation is that Lanfear burned out when she fell through the doorway, died a bit later, was transmigrated as Cyndane and finally Healed by someone in a way which weakened her somewhat, it doesn't really fit with BS's apparent uncertainty on this topic (even if he is pretty sure).

BS just discussed Cyndane's OP strength with Maria and she apparently clarified its origin. I don't see then why BS should tell you: "If you were burned out and transmigrated you would still be burned out, is my guess ."

As said, another explanation might be that Lanfear was stilled (but by whom?). Or maybe that Lanfear actually wasn't transmigrated (but why the new body then? Apparently the Finn don't have the powers to change bodies). Or Cyndane was stilled and Healed again after he transmigration (but that also doesn't make much sense).

Of course, there might also be another explanation for Cyndane's weakened strength, e.g. as pointed out above her much smaller body.

My point was - I wouldn't look at "is my guess" as actually being a literal guess, something Brandon doesn't do as far as I can tell without putting an asterisk down. Nor would I take "I'm pretty sure" as actual doubt. He said "guess". I said "MAFO?". So then he said "pretty sure". He didn't say "this is an asterisked" question to get clarification. If I hadn't asked MAFO, I don't believe he would have brought up MAFO, which says to me that he was much more certain than we imagine; I believe he knows from the notes that being burned out and transmigrated the individual would still be burned out, but was leaving it open because he didn't want speculation about Lanfear to die before the next book. It's hard to imagine he would be only "pretty sure

This is how I imagine it might have gone down:

Lanfear is burned out and was healed. In the notes it says she has more power than Brandon expected her to have. Brandon believed that the healing of burning out would have created a greater decrease a parallel to healing stilling, so he believed that her current power levels must be some kind of boost maybe from the DO to enable her to be a more useful tool in her decreased state or because of the gateway he thinks there must be shenanigans involved. Instead, Maria shows him some notes that say something like: the power decrease from healing someone burned out is not as dramatic as we see what happens to those healed from stilling, or that Lanfear's healing was more effective than healings we've seen in the past.
