Re: I agree with you! Sidious Send a noteboard - 26/11/2009 07:36:38 PM

But look at the thousands of Novices the Rebels picked up. One woman is stronger than Egwene, and one woman comes close. That's it.

But we don't know that. The only reason Bode was mentioned was because she's Mat's sister so there was a moment of sentimentality there. We only know that a great deal of the novices are very weak. We don't know that there are none to match Egwene. I doubt even Egwene knows.

Look at the Aiel too. Someryn, Tamela, Viendre... only three women stronger than Aviendha, and he way Avi's strength is spoken of, it is indeed exceedingly rare to find it among the Aiel.
And this is a culture where channelers mate and give birth to loads of kids, where even non-sparkers are reportedly found and trained. There are around 6000 WO. That's a big enough sample.

But there's once again no evidence that those are the only Wise Ones of that strength. There may be others. We only met Tamela and Viendre in WH, and only due to happenstance.

On the other hand, Egwene is meant to be the most powerful woman in 600 years. And yet, Elayne is with her, and just down the road is Aviendha, Tamela, Viendre, and several other channelers. How rare is that strength really in a randomized group of 1000? We just don't know. I'm just sure that it's not rare enough to be the strongest woman in 600 years.

a) Egwene and Avi were not at full strength when Moiraine thought they could tackle a Forsaken.
b) Egwene was talking about herself, Romanda and Lelaine being unable to stop the guy who came to rescue Moggy as well as Moggy herself.
Obviously, these three linked can stop a Forsaken. Verin, Kumira and Shalon did it, though one of them lost their life. Egwene is much more skilled than Verin, and Romanda and Lelaine are much stronger than Kumira (only stronger than Daigian) and Shalon (stronger than Verin, but that's it).

I have doubts. Elza says that Cadsuane is drawing more saidar than she and Merise are combined, and she must therefore have an angreal - which means that Cadsuane is not as strong as two Sisters. Egwene probably is as strong as two Sisters, or perhaps a little more. In a link with two other women she'd be as strong as four linked women, with some considerable skill. Remember that Verin had an angreal too, and even mixed circles struggled against the male Forsaken. It's close, but it's probably that Egwene is a lot weaker even than Moghedien. I'd estimate Egwene has at most, 2/3 of Moghedien's strength.

I find it unlikely that a super strong channeler would end up being unimportant to the plot *NM* - 21/11/2009 11:54:43 PM 206 Views
