But that is not the connotation of Egwene's comment. Cannoli Send a noteboard - 27/11/2009 08:45:40 PM
so if you go out to dinner and have a fabulous meal at let's say an Italian spot in town... and you think "Hmmm, friendX (who is a passionate cook of Italian food) should check this place out, s/he's always complaining that there are no good Italian restaurants in town" you are being anti-friendX?

Your interpretation that Egwene is being anti-Nynaeve has no substance.

I agreed that it is likely Egwene would think that. I suggested as much in the original post.
Now given what we see of Nynaeve's experience with Aes Sedai, in LoC especially, she IS a fan of that cooking, and a good cook, but everywhere she turns she is being given lousy food, with dry meatballs, burnt sauce, mushy pasta and so on. She complains about it, and we see her opinion IS justified.
Brandon Sanderson, however, has written her thoughts as "FriendX is full of sh1t. This place doesn't have bad food at all!"
A good friend would have been more likely to say "Well, here's at least ONE cook who knows what she is doing! I wish Nynaeve could experience this; it would make her feel so much better about being stuck in this culinary institute of her inferiors."

My point was, given that connotation of the actual words used, there are two reasons. 1. Egwene is a bitch who is already thinking of Suana as her "daughter" and identifying with her, the way she did with the Wise Ones against Nynaeve in T'A'R in tFoH or the Aes Sedai against Rand in tWoT, OR she MEANT what you said, but Sanderson WROTE it in a poor fashion, leaving the meaning ambiguous at best, but with a strong connotation of the interpretation I offered. I AGREE with the possibility of your suggested meaning, which is why I POSTED this!
