To be honest, though, any Sister can defeat the Three Oaths.

They do it all the time by parsing meaning and sifting their responses so that they are not technically in breach of any of them. There are enough holes in the Oaths, that the posters above pretty much indicate the various ways she could get around them.
Plus, the easiest thing to do is to have the Oaths removed later on, and replace them with her own (ie: I swear to wear brown silk dresses, I swear to be as circumspect as possible, etc). Perhaps the reason Mesaana was not active at first was because she was locating her own Oath Rod?

"Those who think they have no time for bodily exercise will sooner or later have to find time for illness."
Mesaana was easily able to get past the Oath Rod.

I'm not convinced. I don't believe she'd want to subject herself to being sworn.

Not just that, but in the AoL, the Oath Rod was used to "bind criminals". *NM*

Well, that's just one oath. The other two are not as easy to circumvent.

But given free will, they can interpret "danger" to mean "clear and present" or "potential danger"

None of this is a twisting of the Oaths. Her actions stick to the letter of the Oaths.
