I clearly said that the oath rod is Preferable to the leashes, not that it was a good thing. I further said it is likely that Tuon will change her mind about da'covale, because I can not imagine that RJ would have a character clearly meant to be a protagonist remain pro-slavery.
Of course, saying that makes me think of the real world. At the time of the American Revolution slavery was outlawed in England, yet legal in the colonies. White Americans were not represented in Parliament, but neither are Puerto Ricans directly represented in Congress today. The Founding Fathers mouthed off some drivel about freeing slaves someday, but were pretty ok with putting off that someday until after they died. However, in spite of their heinous hypocrisy, the intellectual merit of Jefferson and Madison are indisputable, and I think that most (European Americans) would consider the Colonials the 'Good Guys'.
I point this out because history is relative, and sometimes the wise can be blind, and the great flawed.

wishful thinking if you ask me. The point is "freedom" from leashes. Having the take oaths is worse. *NM*

Fortuona didn't save Egwene and a Fourth Oath to an Empress is worse than what Elaida wanted.
