he had trouble writing realistic bad guys. Someone's going to reply to me saying "but the bad guys having flaws is realistic."

Sorry, losing every single time and having horrible plans over and over again is about as realistic as the storm troopers missing every single shot they ever fired at Luke/Han/Leia/etc.

About Lanfear... I was just reading The Great Hunt and having similar thoughts. She could have stuck around Rand. He would have decided he wanted her if she'd just stayed around for a few more days. It was unrealistic for her to leave him. It's just what RJ needed to happen.
