obviously Sammael was full of crap on the NB comments, my point was that Graendal believed him, meaning others of the FS may well have thought he was doing well, and we know that the DO favors fosters this mentality.

Personally I think Sammael was highly effective in terms of what he accomplished, a spot of bad luck and ultimately being betrayed by another FS is all that kept him from killing Rand IMO. Moridin didn't have to openly attack/kill Sammael, all he had to do was save Rand and he know Sammael would wind up dead.
