It amounts to the same thing darius_sedai Send a noteboard - 12/12/2009 04:12:42 PM
He just acted to save Rand. That this was contrary to Sammael's plan was simply an inevitable side-effect, not an intended betrayal to get rid of Sammael.

As said, Moridin tells that he doesn't want to kill Sammael. Apparently the DO also didn't want to lose Sammael. Finally, Moridin couldn't even know if Sammael is actually still around, if Rand would stay in SL, or if Rand would manage to kill Sammael.

Moridin interfered with a duel, saving Rands life, what did he think was going to happen? Not actively seeking/participating in Sammaels death doesn't = he didn't betray Sammael to his death.

I don't see Moridin or the DO crying over losing Sammael... he was a loose cannon far too often. Moridin shouldn't have had to save Rand at all if Sammael was really playing by the DOs rules ... it's possible the DO just wanted to bring him back to punish him
