They used each other and nothing more! The alliance would only have lasted until one of them was finished with the other and then they would have killed them off.

From Graendal's own thoughts she's pretty sure the others didn't even know she and Sammael were "working together"


Because you argued that Graendal also told Sammael about her lair, so she would tell Aran'gar. However, Sammael was likely the exception, because they knoew each other very well from the War of Power.
