Actually, the person being Bound is not the one who channels the Spirit into the rod - another channeler does that. So, when I talked about (and rejected) the idea of Mesaana diverting the flow of Spirit, I meant the other channeler's flow of Spirit. The person being Bound doesn't channel during the process, as I understand it. She just holds the rod and speaks the words.
That's not always true, actually. Egwene wove spirit into the rod herself, as did Romanda, IIRC.
It is very possible that with 300 or so channelers to test, Egwene allowed them to channel spirit into the Rod themselves, rather than channeling for hours on end.
Personally, though, I'd prefer the idea of some kind of inverted glove that prevented Mesaana from touching the OR.
It must be a glove of some sort. I have a feeling it's going to be a complex thing, like a weave of Spirit on her brain that resists Compulsion.

Now I get it ... seems needlessly complex for the Oath Rod though

But if being unbound reverts you to your normal lifespan, then being bound isn't really a punishment *NM*

I'm thinking the point of the thread is to discuss how to beat the Oath Rod, not Mesaana's disguise

Except that the best way to 'defeat' the Oath rod is - not to take the Oaths at all
