So much (chapters 1-3) *spoilers* Camilla Send a noteboard - 12/07/2010 07:35:57 PM
Since we do not yet know that Harry is a wizard, that is the main point. The magic has yet to be introduced, but it is everywhere.

But there is also Sirius' motorbike (it is strange to think Sirius is still an official good guy at this point, and I had a whole dream-away moment when I imagined his plot position at this time -- he will just be setting out to find Pettigrew in the first chapter), Dedalus Diggle (Order of the Phoenix), animagi (I love the scene where Vernon corrects himself because cats cannot read), and I only just realised Harry actually used apparition when he ended up on the school roof.

I don't know to what extent the Put-Outer was meant to be as one-of-a-kind and special as it turned out in the end, but I like that it plays a part in both the first and the last book.

And I caught myself wondering, when it says

By nightfall Dudley was howling. He'd never had such a bad day in his life. (third chapter)

how that relates to the horrible thing which makes him catatonic when the Dementors appear in book 6.
