maybe they decided it would be better to have someone on the "outside" that could let people know where they were if they needed to be reached. It wasn't as if they could just go out and tell people, "hey! by the way...this is where we are staying now". So if someone really needed to find them they needed someone who could say where they were. It's not the best way to keep a secret. But they obviously weren't holding it very close from people that they considered safe.



That is also an excellent reason.
