Oh yes. I even made the mistake of purchasing the new Pride and Prejudice for her.

I may have to force myself through them. My wife is a big fan of Austen. Reads the books and watches several of the movies on a regular basis. If nothing else, I'll have something to discuss with her (even if I disklike it). We'll see. I anticpate that taking a while, if I go through it it.
Most particularly the 1995 Sense and Sensibility or the BBC mini-series of Pride and Prejudice from the same year. The books are better, to be sure, but both are extremely good adaptations all the same.
I've seen the movie for Sense and Sensibility and Emma as well. Not really my cup of tea, but not everything in there is unbearable. There is some decent comedy and a one-liner or two that caught me by surprise. Alan Rickman is good in S&S. The new P&P has Kiera Knightley (pre-anorexia) and Rosamund Pike in it too (who looks good and can act). I'm not sure I can read through all of that, though.
The Mrs. loves S&S and P&P. I will need to tell her about the mini-series and see if they have it on Netflix for her.

I really need to read Kundera. I've heard nothing but praise for Unbearable Lightness. *NM*

That is very kind, but I have far too much to do to read non-school books, unfortunately.
