I've done a lot of research on this, since I've been in the market for an e-reader for some time now. The kindle has one of the nicest screens (I haven't directly compared the two, but I've heard that it's slightly nicer than the Nook) out there, right up there with the newest generation of Sony readers.

As far as DRM goes, a quick google search will show you that it's not all that hard to strip it from just about any book. After that, a quick conversion with Calibre can make any book readable on any e-reader that you can think of.

Um... I suppose I could google it, but what's DRM?

1. Am I okay with stripping the DRM out of a book (ethically and timewise)?

Huh? :P

2. Is how I get the book onto the e-reader important (like wireless, 3G, etc)?

I would actually prefer using a usb cable and NOT wireless. I would also like my ebook to just do ebooks. I have an iphone and a computer, and am not a student anymore. I read at home or when traveling- that's it.

I used to think I didn't need color, but then I thought I might want it for... children's books and cook books. Or any other book with color photos, illustrations, graphs, etc.

I believe all news and research that supports my opinion, and dismiss the rest as conspiracy and lies.

you don't need batteries with real books *NM* - 01/02/2011 10:50:30 PM 672 Views
And you don't need bookshelves with ereaders. - 01/02/2011 11:06:39 PM 1135 Views
Which is more irritating, bookshelves taking up space or running out of batteries while reading? - 02/02/2011 10:57:50 PM 1205 Views
