Of course it could be that the Dutch translation is terrible, compared to the original version (I got a Dutch copy from colleagues as a gift - they didn't realise I read most books in English), but I really HAD to put it done before my eyes burned out.

My sister was reading Pride and Prejudice once and complaining about it. I started criticizing her taste, then took a look at the translation she was reading... yeah. It's not even that the translation is bad, per se, an accurate translation of Regency English would indeed require a more old-fashioned register of Dutch. Nevertheless, what is lovely in English is just silly in Dutch.
