The 2013 movie has much the structure of the 1974 film (which review I linked to above) Larry Send a noteboard - 20/05/2013 03:58:17 AM

which is, which one should I do first? I was kind of intending to go see the movie now and read the book fairly soon afterwards, seems the best way to do it? Or do you figure the other way around would be more interesting?

Both are almost too faithful to the scene ordering of the novel and there certainly are copious quotes from Fitzgerald's book, so it wouldn't be too bad to watch the film first and then read the book. But there are things in the book that are left open for interpretation, so it might be best to read that so the movie doesn't color them too much.

The book is lovely, and short so I'd go with reading that first. - 20/05/2013 08:24:16 AM 472 Views
I often find myself in the position of defending Fitzgerald from people who don't think him serious. - 20/05/2013 05:15:22 PM 995 Views
I prefer Fitzgerald to Hemingway, among others - 21/05/2013 07:36:20 PM 915 Views
