which is, which one should I do first? I was kind of intending to go see the movie now and read the book fairly soon afterwards, seems the best way to do it? Or do you figure the other way around would be more interesting?

Both are almost too faithful to the scene ordering of the novel and there certainly are copious quotes from Fitzgerald's book, so it wouldn't be too bad to watch the film first and then read the book. But there are things in the book that are left open for interpretation, so it might be best to read that so the movie doesn't color them too much.
