But then, for a few years now I've been reading primarily older classics with new or even older but less widely known books taking up only a relatively small percentage of my reading. And like I dare say is the case for most of us, I have a long list of both older and newer books that I still intend to read - with an increasing number of those which I actually own already, that obviously pushes me a bit more to read them...
I do have a Goodreads account and occasionally find recommendations there from friends' bookshelves or reviews, but other than that, yeah, still the people here. It helps a lot to sell me on a book if it's recommended by someone whose taste I know and respect, and that mostly still means the people here, plus the handful of ex-wotmaniacs and others that I follow on Goodreads.

It helps a lot to sell me on a book if it's recommended by someone whose taste I know and respect, and that mostly still means the people here, plus the handful of ex-wotmaniacs and others that I follow on Goodreads.
But of course sometimes it's just a review that I read in the newspaper, or a book that I see advertised in a bookstore. All in all, not really feeling the need for any more extensive lists of recommendations...
Might be because I detest rating systems and those seem to be the most visible aspect of the site
