I have experimented with this myself.
But how do you organise your wobbly piles? That is the problem.
Wobbly piles are also more resistant to re-organising.

That is a downside to the wobbly pile book storage solution, I prefer a random access organisational system myself as it combines well with the wobbly pile book storage solution (ie, I just grab books at random and hope for the best)
