This is important stuff. At least to some of us. I mean me.
My bookshelf is organised not according to genre or the alphabeth or chronology, but according to how it makes sense in my head. Books that feel the same belong together. This is not only based on content, but also on how the book looks. I can have books by one author in several different locations.
Because most of my books are in Norway, and I have limited space for my books here, I find it increasingly difficult to organise my bookshelf in a way that makes me happy. Which means I keep reorganising it.
Oddly, all my school theory books are in alphabetical order according to author.
Am I mad?

How do you organise your bookshelf?
I keep my favorite series near the top left hand and work from there. For some series (i.e. Star Wars and Star Trek) I organize them according to my favorite series within the series. As an example: William Shatner's Captain Kirk series are in a different location from the DS9 Millennium series which is in a different from the Invasion! series that span the TOS through Voyager series. After my favorite series the rest go up in random order by author.
How do you find them?
The rest I just give a few minutes of looking to find them.
Kirk: Spock, you want to know something? Everybody’s human.
Spock: I find that remark…insulting.
