I've read eight of them. First sword of Shannara, Sword of Shannara Trilogy and the Scions of Shannara. The Scions of Shannara is the best in my opinion. You could say they are more action oriented, quicker, more to the point than Lord of the Rings. This is basic fantasy that is best experienced around the age of twelve. Call it LotR light. I have a nostalgic relationship to these books. They were my first foray into fantasy and I was mezmerised by them at that time.
"I didn't have much to say to anybody but kept to myself and my books. With my eyes closed, I would touch a familiar book and draw it's fragrance deep inside me. This was enough to make me happy."
