Even those crappy LEgends of the Riftwar or whatever it was called books. The ones he co-wrote with other authors. Sheesh. I was warned not to read them back on the home site, hell one person flat out told me not to read them under any circumstance, not even for completeness sake.
I just can't help myself. In some ways I love Midkemia more than most other settings.

I actually had read Shadow of a Dark Queen some years ago. It was a book I picked up in a used book store, and not knowing that it was part of a series, started reading it. Then I picked up the next 3 books to finish that part of the series. I kept meaning to start the series from the beginning just never got around to it, but since I finished the Magician I have now read several others in the series.
Overall I liked it but I thought Shadow of a Dark Queen was the better read. His writing definitely got better over time.

Death to the Regressives of the GOP and the TeaParty. No mercy for Conservatives. Burn them all at the stake for the hateful satanists they are.

in that case, you should be wary of the most beautifully written fantasy series of all time

I'm pretty sure that that criticism can be levelled at many 'popular' genre writers/series.
