If the parties comprising the next government indeed become unelectable for a generation because of the cuts they must impose, they may have just given Labour a four-year holiday before they return in renewed force.


I just can't see how being in power now is a good thing (well, it lets Cameron hang on with the Tories, I suspect) but we are going to go through a really rough year or two... people aren't going to like who is in charge for it.
