My bicycle is my only mode of transportation right now in a middle sized town that doesn't have easy to use (places I go) transit. There are TWO places in this town with actual bike lanes. The police will ticket for riding on the sidewalk and if there are not proper lights on the bike after dark.

When riding one should be following all traffic laws; using signals, stopping at stoplights and signs, following at a safe distance, mechanically maintaining the vehicle to comply with the state revised code, etc. If one is doing that then the drivers need to FU.

Similarly, two weeks ago I signaled I was going left then proceeded into the left turn lane. As a car passes me the driver yells, "Get in your own lane", there was no bike lane on this road. I yell back, "I'm turning left FuckHead." And promptly flipped her off.

So, drivers are in general not attentive, responsive or nice to bikes. There are exceptions though.

Oh, if you don't know what the hand signals are go back to preschool. Every driver should know just in case the car's turn lights are not operating. Also, I don't contribute to the gas hogs anymore. That along purchasing as much food as I can locally. . .
