But one big difference with this structure (As opposed to your pool example) is that people can avoid it. NYC is huge. I'd be interested to know in just how many people can NOT avoid the cultural center.

Also, while I understand people's grief, their hurt and their rage is misplaced in attacking Muslim-Americans who lost loved ones as well. I think this project is a good opportunity to mend some rage and grief and bring people to terms with their loss and those who they perceive have caused it. To take your pool example, it's as if the neighbors building the pool are going to use it, not only for pleasure, but for educating others in pool safety and training lifeguards

I simply believe that the potential good this facility can accomplish (and the ability of people to avoid it) outweighs the potential for hurt. I may be wrong, though. It wouldn't be the first time.
