Yes, Muslims suffered directly in the attack and also indirectly after the attack. Don't think I'd say it was greater or less than anyone else's suffering, but point granted.
My problem with building it here comes from the reasoning behind the attacks. This was an attack on the West, its Judeo-Christian leanings, and foreign ties with Israel. The radical Muslim terrorists didn't come aiming to kill as many peaceful American Muslims as possible; though I'm sure killing some along the way didn't bother them in the least.
I feel crappy now too, because I started looking for demographics after your post. Found out that the most people who died, outside of those living directly in NYC, were from Hoboken.
